This is the second of two steel truss bridges spanning the Little River at the Clark’s Hill Reservoir in East Central Georgia. The goal of this bridge replacement, in addition to creating a modern concrete bridge on a new alignment with wider travel lanes and shoulders, was to increase the span of the bridge, opening the passageway to the lake on either side of the bridge.
Scott Bridge Company’s low bid was accepted for this work and construction on this nearly 15-million-dollar project began in the late summer of 2016. The bridge design almost doubled the width of the opening under the bridge. The wider travel lanes and shoulders increased motorist safety on the heavily travelled SR 43 between Lincolnton and Thomson. The bridge was opened for traffic in November 2018.
