US 378 over Little River

Client:South Carolina Department of Transportation

Location:Near McCormick, in McCormick County at Little River, a tributary of the Savannah River at Clark’s Hill Lake.

Date: August 2015

In the shadows of the Pensacola Naval Air Station and bordered on three sides by Bayou Grande lies a large residential area known as Navy Point. CR 292A is a critical link between Navy Point and the Naval Air Station. This bridge was functionally obsolete due to the narrow travel lanes, no shoulders and no pedestrian walkways. The Navy Point Park is located at the west end of the bridge. Additionally, this bridge allowed for no passage of larger pleasure boats. Scott Bridge was chosen to replace this bridge with a wider and more aesthetically pleasing structure that also would allow more clearance under the bridge. The bridge spans were increased to cut down on the number of piers in the water, thus increasing boater safety. This $5.5 million project was opened for traffic in January of 2017.
