Description:
State Road 20 is a major East-West thoroughfare in the central panhandle linking Tallahassee and Eglin
Air Force Base. The existing bridge over the Chipola River was aging and narrow causing trucks passing in
opposite directions on this bridge a dangerous proposition. The Florida Department of Transportation
(FDOT) awarded to Scott Bridge Company, Inc. the contract to replace this bridge. This 5.7 million dollar
project has widened the bridge and straightened the approaches, making travel much safer on this
stretch of roadway. This project is nearing completion and should be open for traffic mid-summer, 2015.
